About Us

We are Lumiere Skin Care Clinic Inc. located at 1795 Alysheba Way Ste. 1104, Lexington, KY, and locally owned and operated. Before opening our clinic in 2005 at the past location we were in business for over 20 years practicing in Hazard and Jenkins, KY.  Mrs. Louise Chaffins started the clinic with one electrolysis machine in 1975, in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains (Kentucky/Virginia Border).  We most recently moved into this location on Aug 28th, 2021.  Thank you all for supporting us throughout the years.

We are members of the Cosmetic Therapy Assoication and The American Society For Medical Laser & Surgery. We have attended seminars in San Francisco, New York, Las Vegas, New Jersey and North Carolina and have completed advanced training from the Monterey Bay institute of Electrology in Monterey California.

We offer our clients the choice between Electrolysis,Laser or IPL, although it is usually most cost effective to perform laser first (if a candidate) then follow up with a series of electrology treatments. We offer a free consultation and treatment plan to eliminate your unwanted hair, skin spots, tattoo or acne.

Electrolysis is approved by the FDA as being permanent and safe, however Laser is considered a reduction because we cannot guarantee to destroy all the hairs. We destroy hairs with every treatment, but how many depends on the clients texture of hair and skin color. While performing treatments with the laser we have seen some clients get up to 90% of their hairs destroyed, while other clients may see only 50% destroyed. For those that get only 50% destroyed we can follow up with Electrolysis. After a laser treatment the hairs will begin to fall out in seven to fourteen days. The amount of hairs that fall out will depend on the texture, cycle, and melanin contained in the hair.

Laser/IPL can target up to 100-500 follicles per pulse, where as with Electrolysis every hair is treated with a fine metal probe that is inserted into each follicle. Laser can treat more hairs per treatment at a faster rate provided the patient has dark hairs (Lasers and IPLs typically don’t work on white or lightly colored hairs).

It is important during the consultation to determine which treatment plan is best for the client. Not only do we perform these tasks, we also have a licensed school (sselaser.org) where we certify medical/cosmetic staff in laser hair removal, laser tattoo removal and electrolysis.
